Under the Federal Law on Prosecuting Bodies of the Russian Federation military procuracies (The Main Military Procuracy, military procuracies in districts and garrisons) hold a special position in the system of prosecuting bodies and their organizational development is being carried out in cooperation with the central organs of military control. The Statute of Military Procuracies approved by the Decree of the USSR Supreme Soviet on 4 August 1981 ruled that the Chief Military Prosecutor and prosecutors subordinated to him take part in developing measures to strengthen legality, law and order, prevent violations of laws and organize legal education of military personnel. |
