It should be noted that both definitions lead us to Cicero's widely used textbook Rhetorica vetus: De inventione (II, 53, 159), where they are considered as part of a disputation about the meaning of "honestum": virtus est animi habitus naturae modo atque rationi consentaneus (virtue is a habit of mind in which both nature and reason are in agreement).
