| A multiplex RT-PCR was used for direct detection of respiratory syncytial virus A (RSV-A), RSV-B, adenoviruses, and influenza A, B, and C viruses in all nasopharyngeal samples, as previously described (7). The new one-dose vaccine is effective against Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD), Type 1 and Type 2; Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR); Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BKSV); and Parainfluenza3 (PI3), with either Leptospira (including hardjo-bovis) or Pasteurella multocidal Mannheimia haemolytica combinations. The Rhino-probe provides improved accuracy in diagnosing chronic rhinitis; aids in the detection of respiratory syncytial virus in children; provides consistent, uniform mucosal samples (100 to 1000 times more cells than any other method); allows screening for infectious disease; and helps with following the course of disease and monitoring of treatment. |
