The aim of the trial is to reduce the amount of time officers spend dealing with minor offences of drunken and loutish behaviour, as well as serving as a deterrent against offenders.
V-RADS has three specific uses -- serving as a deterrent by providing continuous monitoring of places that store radiological materials for medical or industrial uses; as detector of radiological materials at transit "choke-points" if being moved; and as part of a 24/7 strategic defense in locations that may well be terrorist targets.
