WORKERS' UNION APPEALS TO HIGH COURT ON GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD CODE A Turkish workers' union has filed a suit to the country's highest administrative court for the annulment and the suspension of execution of a code that set the rules for trade of genetically modified food items.
Iraq's parliament speaker on Sunday called for a suspension of executions until after elections set for January, to ensure that political parties do not use them as issues during the election campaign.
Makoto Miyazaki, head of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, called for a suspension of executions for a certain period of time, saying that now is the time for Japanese society to discuss the problems of capital punishment and to pursue its reforms.
