DSP was formed in October 2005 through a merger of Dainippon Pharmaceutical and Sumitomo Pharmaceuticals, based on a firm conviction that this move would allow the two companies to capture significant synergies by sharing a common management philosophy, business strategies and sense of urgency.
The attraction is also one of the first synergies from a deal completed last May that formed NBC Universal by combining the assets of NBC, part of General Electric Co.
The merger is expected to generate cost synergies reaching approximately $2.
