TAKE. This is a technical expression which signifies to be entitled to; as, a devisee will take under the will. To take also signifies to seize, as to take and carry away.

A Mr Collingwood took a cod of 12-14-0 from the Rat House Corner, Dale Crut taking one of 9-8-0, Kenny McCoy taking some nice whiting to well over 1lb and cod to 3lb, and Trevor Green taking cod of 2lb and 4lb, all fished Roker pier.
David Allan, fishing South Shields pier, after taking some good whiting landed a cod of 4-8-0.
Amble boat Warlord is taking some decent ling, the best a 12lb catch by Duncan McKinnon, while on the Evelyn Jane out of Hartlepool Tommy Mather took one of 15lb.
