When commercial telephone exchange service began in New Haven, Conn.
The old name corresponds to what the phone company called the telephone exchange for the area - although why the phone book was printed with that obscure reference remains a mystery, Swasey said.
Coverage includes automatic telephone exchange switching, cordless handsets, demodulators, digital line systems, entry phone systems, facsimile machines, modulators, relays, switching equipment, telegraphic equipment, telephone sets, teleprinters, and video phones.
