Tokyo, Japan, Apr 24, 2006 - (JCN) - Astellas Pharma recently announced the European Commission's approval of the Company's proprietary immunosuppressant Prograf (tacrolimus) for the prophylaxis use of transplant rejection in heart transplant recipients in all EU countries. Of the people waiting for a kidney transplant, about one third have a less common tissue type which produces antibodies leading to transplant rejection. The drug, which is currently undergoing clinical trials in the United States and Europe, is intended for the noninvasive diagnosis of cardiac transplant rejection. |
