The same kind of criticism can be found in the misogynous Female Revolutionary Plutarch, where Lewis Goldsmith uses Roland as an example of improper female behavior: "Madame Roland received a severe lesson of the dangers in which ambitious women involve themselves, by undutifully aspiring to notoriety in troublesome times, and by interfering with what does not regard their sex.
