In March of 2006, tens of thousands of Los Angeles high school students staged walkouts in protest a House bill that proposes a sweeping crackdown on undocumented workers. Under her ruling, the workers in key jobs at the Department of Airports, Sanitation Bureau and Information Technology Agency are expressly forbidden from taking part in the walkouts planned for today and Wednesday. We have already begun to see problems at County/USC with the recent walkout of nurses from the burn unit during the July 4th weekend, prompting the county to get an injunction to prohibit future walkouts. |
