While scholars are increasingly interested in the visual perspectives afforded by aeriality, or the condition of being airborne (Adey, 2010), seldom do they consider the prospects of the sky, itself, becoming an object of scrutiny, calculation and rational knowing for the purpose of occupation and indwelling (Connor, 2010).
In the next section, I consider how scholars have provided fertile analyses on aeriality and its views, but have neglected to consider the sky as, itself, an inhabitable realm of particular rationalisations.
Aeriality can be said to have offered an unprecedented vantage point from which new forms of visuality and cultural meaning are activated.
