The next step was to visualize the relationship between the rating variable and the outcome about the
cut point (Figure 2).
The reduction in HbA1c was 0.8% (-1.6 to -0.1) in the pioglitazone group and 0.3% (-1.1 to 0.4) in the control group, a difference of 0.5%, which was less than the
cut point of 1.0% which we calculated.
All males and almost all females were classified with obesity using diverse FM%
cut points (30-42.9% for females and 20-29% for males).
Because of this symptom overlap, the presence of PCS after mTBI may inflate the PCL score and generate higher rates of false positive PTSD screens if standard
cut points are used.
A
cut point exists if and only if [for all i], j [element of] N, if [y.sub.i] [less than] [y.sub.j] and i votes for [x.sub.b], then j votes for [x.sub.b].
There is an interesting and perhaps surprising simple
cut point effect for some of the scenarios.
Davidson, who is not a member of the current Expert Committee although he served on it in the past, leans toward a
cut point of 7.0% because of its significance for microvascular disease.
In approximately one-third of the main living areas and 16 % of the infants' beds of homes for which the presence of cockroaches was reported, allergen levels exceeded the upper
cut point, whereas allergen levels were almost always below the
cut points for homes for which no presence of cockroaches was reported.
Examining differences in
cut point versus quantile approaches to indicator construction, the RIIs were again similar (Table 4).
Davidson, who is not a member of the current Expert Committee although he served on it in the past, leans toward a
cut point of 7.0% because of its significance for microvascular disease, but adds that he is in the minority in the endocrinology community and that it's unlikely the diagnositc threshold will be set so high.
Prostate cancer screening that uses a
cut point lower than 4 mcg/L to define an abnormal PSA level would detect more cases of cancer, but it is unknown what proportion of the cases that would be detected with the lower
cut point would ever become clinically apparent, according to the panel.
For further refinement of the measurement's sensitivity, variables such as menopausal status, race, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and smoking also should be considered, because they can alter by at least 10% the critical
cut point that indicates further investigation, he said at the annual meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.
