Deaconesses have tended not to be
ordained. Deaconesses have often met separately from deacons and have been viewed, in subsidiary capacity, as assistants to deacons.
Here is where the problem lies: In many parts of the early church, women and men were
ordained as deacons.
The newly
ordained deacons and will be assigned to home parishes in: Arlington Heights, Berwyn, Brookfield, Chicago, Cicero, Des Plaines, Glenview, Grayslake, Ingleside, Oak Forest, Orland Park.
The new deacons will serve as curates once they are
ordained. They will lead worship and do teaching and pastoral work at their churches.
When a Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) church first
ordained a woman to ministry in 1964 the practices, processes, and meanings of ordination took new directions.
Zagano said it may not work in every conference to
ordain women to the diaconate.

Will the church take note of the many liturgies used in the past to
ordain women to the diaconate?
Paul Lei Shi-Yin, who was excommunicated by the Vatican in 2011 when he was
ordained a bishop without the Pope's approval and in defiance of the Holy Sees instructions of June 29, 2011, has committed a "sacrilege" by ordaining four new priests on June 29, 2012, in southwestern China.
At Wakefield Cathedral on July 3, The Rt Rev Platten will
ordain Rev Harry Gwinnett, as Curate of St John the Evangelist, Golcar, Rev Catherine Macpherson as Curate of Mirfield Team Ministry, and Rev Cathy Reardon as Curate of St Thomas, Bradley, St Francis, Fixby, and St Hilda, Cowcliffe.
The Roman Catholic Church continues to refuse to
ordain women as priests, leading to a number of traditional Anglicans choosing to convert to Catholicism.
