Register of Sasines

Register of Sasines

a Scottish public record. Created by the Registration Act 1617, this register was an important property register in Scotland. It is a register of deeds rather than land and is entirely feudal in nature. It is has almost entirely been replaced by a modern system of land registration based around the land register. The Feudal system itself was abolished by the Scottish Parliament in 2000.
