Where `dementia type' is discussed, we have grouped the dementias into Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and `other' dementias, which include alcoholic dementia (13 cases), mixed dementia (three cases), dementia in Parkinson's disease (seven cases), dementia associated with a subdural haematoma (one case) and unspecified types of dementia (14 cases).
Patients with alcoholic dementia also reveal evidence of neuronal damage in the basal ganglia and occipital lobe.
