In the kaolin wastewater flocculation tests, the supernatant residual turbidity and the floc size were used to review the kaolin flocculation performance by adding the synthesized PAD.
Typically the standard "jar test" method is the go-to for coagulation and flocculation tests. Jar tests are best used to evaluate the performance of a small number of chemicals when precedent exists for treating a particular water stream.
Figure 5 shows the behavior of the reducing turbidity (% RT) and reducing total solids (% RS) when was varied [R.sub.c] during subsequent flocculation tests. The lowest turbidity removal was achieved when [R.sub.c] = 1,000 which would indicate that the applied electric charge was not sufficient to obtain the necessary concentration of iron cations.
