The carcinogenicity of the insecticides
lindane and DDT, and the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) was evaluated by IARC in 2015 (Guyton et al., 2015).
In the current study, a novel microbial consortium sampled from the River Yamuna (North India) and River Godavari (South India) was enriched until a
Lindane and DDT tolerant population was established.
The 12 pesticide reference standards consisting of hexachlorobenzene,
lindane, heptachlor, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, alfa-endosulfan, beta-endosulfan, dicofol, p,p-DDT, p, p-DDD, p,p-DDE, linadane d6 and 9 Polychlorinated biphenyl PCBs-18, 28, 52, 101, 118, 153, 180, 194 and PCB-209 of all near-100% purity were obtained from Dr.
Besides that, the degradation of
lindane and DDT confirms the feasible use of natural sunlight as the UV source for the photocatalysis process to take place.
After considering feasibility, including the unusually large volume of data retrieved for DDT, in addition to the preceding scientific issues, lower-ranked aldrin and dieldrin were set aside from the list of potential candidates for later evaluation in IARC Monograph Volume 117 (October 2016), whereas DDT and
lindane were selected for evaluation in Volume 113.
In conclusion, a-LA appears to have protective effects against
lindane and IR-induced heart toxicity.
Three pesticides,
Lindane, Aldrin and dieldrin were selected.

Head Lice are not nice, but using
lindane is insane.
