surrogacy

the role of a woman who is paid to bear a child by a married couple unable to have children themselves. The Surrogacy Arrangements Act 1985 as amended prohibits commercial agencies from engaging women to act as surrogate mothers. Surrogacy contracts are unenforceable and payment may only be made to the surrogate mother of reasonable expenses.
