JCT

abbreviation for Joint Contract Tribunal, a building industry body established in 1931 comprising all interested parties that promulgates standard form contracts (and subcontracts) for all sorts of building work. Its interpretation is a specialist field because many disputes go to private arbitration. The latest is JCT 2005.
